In a letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble Sanger stated, “We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. And the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

In total, 20,108 people were sterilized in the state of California prior to 1964. California had by far the highest number of sterilizations in the United States (one third of all sterilizations nationwide). The numbers of men and women sterilized were about equal. Of the total sterilizations, almost 60% were considered mentally ill and more than 35% were considered mentally deficient. Men and women of Mexican origin represented between 7% and 8% of those sterilized (Stern, Eugenic Nation, p. 111). African Americans made up 1% of California’s population but accounted for 4% of the sterilizations (Stern, Eugenic Nation, p. 111). However, because of the sensitive nature of sterilization records, many are difficult to access or have been altered. This suggests that the total known number of sterilizations may be conservative compared to the actual number (Stern, "From Legislation to Lived Experience," p. 97).

A Miami New Times article. Alligator hunters would sit crying black babies who were too young to walk at the water’s edge. With rope around their necks and waists, the babies would splash and cry until a crocodile snapped on one of them. The hunters would kill the alligator only after the baby was in its jaws, trading one child’s life for one alligator’s skin. They made postcards, pictures and trinkets to commemorate the practice.

According To The Most Recent Census Data, There Are Nearly 160 Million More White People In America Than There Are Black People. White People Make Up Roughly 62 Percent Of The U.S. Population But Only About 49 Percent Of Those Who Are Killed By Police Officers. Once said, “The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety.” How can the “Dream” survive if we murder the children? Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate.

Abortion, by the numbers, is a racist institution. That's not to say that all or even most of those who support abortion are racists. Nor does it imply that there are not racists among those who oppose abortion. This statement has nothing to do with agendas or intent. It has everything to do with the simply undeniable reality that in the United States, abortion kills black children at roughly three times the rate of non-Hispanic, white children.

Lest you feel these claims are an exaggeration, consider the numbers. Among black women, the current abortion ratio is 420.2 That means there are 420 abortions for every 1,000 live births. Statistically, 30% of black pregnancies end in abortion (excluding miscarriages). Among white women, the abortion ratio is 121—which means less than 11% of white pregnancies end in abortion.3 The abortion ratio among Hispanic women is 178, or 15% of pregnancies. Even though whites make up 63.7% of America's population,5 white women account for only 37% of its abortions.

We Charge That The United States Of America Knew That There Was A Link Between Vaccines And An Increased Risk For Autism In African American Males Who Received The MMR Vaccine Before The Age Of 36 Months The United States Had This Knowledge But Withheld This Information From The Afro-American Community

“I regret that my co-authors and I omitted statistically significant information suggesting that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.”

These are the words of a senior scientist at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. William Thompson, who admitted to his lawyer and a member of Congress that he and his colleagues committed scientific misconduct in 2004 to cover up a meaningful link between vaccines and autism in black boys.

In a statement released in August 2014, Dr. Thompson revealed that data concluding a greater likelihood that the MMR vaccine could lead to autism-like characteristics in African-American boys was intentionally removed from the final 2004 study results.

In fact, Thompson says the study co-authors “scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the study. The remaining four co-authors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room, and reviewed and went through all the hardcopy documents that we had thought we should discard, and put them into a huge garbage can.”

Thompson retained his own copies of the study notes, however, which he provided to Rep. Bill Posey of Florida, who has called for a congressional investigation into the study. The CDC’s claims that no connection between the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism exists has long been the basis of the government’s refusal to deny compensation to the vast majority of parents of MMR vaccine-injured children.

White People Are More Likely To Deal Drugs, But Black People Are More Likely To Get Arrested For It

As Planned Parenthood marks its 96th anniversary today, new research shows the abortion business targets blacks and Hispanics by putting 79% of its abortion clinics in minority neighborhoods.New research released by Protecting Black Life (an outreach of Life Issues Institute) reveals that 79% of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of African-American and/or Hispanic/Latino communities.

The group has a new map (http://www.protectingblacklife.org/pp_targets/) which serves as a powerful visual — illustrating in full color on a website portal integrated with Google Maps functionality just how Planned Parenthood targets minorities. This interactive site gives viewers an up close and personal look at just how close these facilities are to their neighborhoods.

The claim that Planned Parenthood is targeting minorities is not new but the research is new, as it relies on verifiable statistics from 2010 Census Data tracks. Census tracts are a means for measuring demographic data about a geographic area, designed to reflect homogeneous characteristics like race, income level, and home values. It focuses only on Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities within walking distance of minority neighborhoods, rather than looking at a larger geographical area, such as zip code.

The term"The War on Drugs" was popularized by the media shortly after a press conference given on June 18, 1971, by United States President Richard Nixon the day after publication of a special message from President Nixon to the Congress on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control On June 24, 1982, President Ronald Reagan issued one of the most devastating executive orders of the 20th century. “We must mobilize all our forces to stop the flow of drugs into this country” and to “brand drugs

such as marijuana exactly for what they are—dangerous,” he said, announcing his own War on Drugs.

Criminologists hardly feared that the new war would disproportionately arrest and incarcerate African Americans.

The act led to the mass incarceration of Americans. The prison population quadrupled between 1980 and 2000 due entirely to stiffer sentencing policies, not more crime. Between 1985 and 2000, drug offenses accounted for two-thirds of the spike in the inmate population.By 2000, black people comprised 62.7 percent of all drug “offenders” in state prisons—and not because they were selling or using more drugs. That year, the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse reported that 6.4 percent of white people and 6.4 percent of black people were using illegal drugs. Racial studies on drug dealers usually found similar rates. One 2012 analysis, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, found that white youths (6.6 percent) were 32 percent more likely than black youths (5 percent) to sell drugs. But black youths were far more likely to get arrested for it.During the crack craze in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the situation was the same. White and black people were selling and consuming illegal drugs at similar rates, but black users and dealers were getting arrested and convicted much more. In 1996, when two-thirds of the crack users were white or Latino, 84.5 percent of the defendants convicted of crack possession were black. Young Black men are 80 percent of many prison populations, although they constitute only six percent of the U.S. population. Black men constitute 45 percent of those on death row, according to the Department of Justice. All White juries have convicted close to 40 percent of Black death-row inmates.

Johnnie Hunter, national director of the Life Education and Research Network, writes that the Black community has lost 12,000,000 babies due to abortions.

In 1991, 95,064 Black men died before the age of 69, while 10,430 Black men died from homicide the same year, according to author Robert Johnson, who wrote an article for the Journal of African Men, entitled "Are Blacks experiencing genocide in the U.S.?"

"Indirect genocide can be experienced in part in the self-destructive adaptations of victim groups to the deprivations of life inflicted upon them by the larger society," Mr. Johnson said. "In this situation, the victim group appears to be the cause of its own problems and the role of the larger social conditions is dis-avowed or ignored entirely," Mr. Johnson added. He continued by saying that other sources of increased vulnerability in the Black community, such as those related to poor physical health, are dismissed on the premise that the culprit is the lifestyle preferred by Blacks—not the presence of poverty and racism.

David Horowitz, in a 1997 article in the Salon magazine, said: "Surveys show that a large number in the African American community is indeed convinced that Whites—with their government behind them—are plotting genocide against Blacks through the distribution of crack and the AIDS virus."

Hypertension causes 20 percent of Black deaths in America, twice the figure of Whites, according to a Scientific American article in 1999. Hypertension is the technical term for high blood pressure, which contributes to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure in 35 percent of Black Americans. According to the 2000 Census, the Black population stands at 12.32 percent.

The article said that the popular explanation for the hypertension disparity between Blacks and Whites is due to the fact that people of African descent are "intrinsically susceptible" to high blood pressure because of some vaguely defined aspect of their genetic makeup.

But, the article said, scientists have known for sometime that the rate of hypertension in rural West Africa is lower than any other place in the world. So, why then do people of African descent in the U.S. and the United Kingdom have some of the highest rates of hypertension in the world?

"It suggests that there is something about the surroundings or way of life of European and American Blacks—rather than a genetic factor," the magazine said.

"There is little dispute that Blacks in North America and Europe face a unique kind of stress—racial discrimination, and the long-term effects of racism on blood pressure remains unknowing," the article said.

According to a 2002 study by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 80 percent of Blacks believe that they could be used as guinea pigs in medical experiments, such as the infamous Tuskegee University Syphilis experiment, which many see as a form of genocide. The CDC says this explains why only 39 percent of elderly Blacks (65 + years) have been vaccinated for influenza, compared to 60 percent of Whites in the same age group.

So, The Question Begs Answering: Is It Genocide Or Something Else?

The 2000 Census reports that 27.3 percent of Blacks do not have health insurance compared to 3.5 percent of Whites.

Is it genocide when, as the Justice Policy Institute reports that as of 2002, there were 791,640 Black men in jail and 603,000 in higher education? One half of the Black male dropouts compared to one in 10 White dropouts have prison records. The census figures show that 43.91 percent of Blacks are in state and federal prisons, compared to 34.72 percent of the White population. Whites constitute 69.13 percent of the U.S. population, while Latinos are 12.55 percent.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) said that maybe the answer lies in the fact that state spending on corrections grew at a rate six times that of the spending on education in the period from 1985 to 2000; that meant a decrease of 24 percent for education, compared with a 166 percent increase for corrections. The NAACP said the negative impact of the prison issue in the Black community means that 3.5 million adult Blacks do not have the right to vote because of imprisonment; being on parole or on probation. That also means that tens of thousands of Black people are denied the right of a jury of their peers.

“The 1911 lynching of the African American woman Laura Nelson, who was abducted from her jail cell, raped and, along with her son, lynched by a mob in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, is evocative of a story told many times over in the annals of America’s most shameful history. Darren Rainey, an inmate at the Dade Correctional Institution in South Florida, was serving a prison sentence for cocaine possession in June 2012, when guards took him out of his cell, forced him into a shower stall and locked the door.

From the outside, they turned the water on scalding hot, possibly as high as 180 degrees, then walked away. As the narrow room filled with steam, Rainey, a 50-year-old with schizophrenia, could be heard screaming, “I can’t take it anymore,” a fellow inmate would later say.

After nearly two hours, the guards went in to check on him. Rainey lay dead on his back in three inches of water. His skin had reddened and begun to peel off, flecks of it floating next to him, as the Miami Herald reported.

LYNCHING

In the last decades of the nineteenth century, the lynching of Black people in the Southern and border states became an institutionalized method used by whites to terrorize Blacks and maintain white supremacy. In the South, during the period 1880 to 1940, there was deep-seated and all-pervading hatred and fear of the Negro which led white mobs to turn to “lynch law” as a means of social control. Lynchings—open public murders of individuals suspected of crime conceived and carried out more or less spontaneously by a mob—seem to have been an American invention. In Lynch-Law, the first scholarly investigation of lynching, written in 1905, author James E. Cutler stated that “lynching is a criminal practice which is peculiar to the United States.”1

Most of the lynchings were by hanging or shooting, or both. However, many were of a more hideous nature—burning at the stake, maiming, dismemberment, castration, and other brutal methods of physical torture. Lynching, therefore, was a cruel combination of racism and sadism, which was utilized primarily to sustain the caste system in the South. Many white people believed that Negroes could only be controlled by fear. To them, lynching was seen as the most effective means of control.

The lynching of two married African-American couples, known in some circles as the “Lynching At Moore’s Ford Bridge,” took place in Northern Georgia on this day in 1946. An angry mob of White men attacked the couples, with one of the wives seven months pregnant and a man in the group an Army veteran of World War II.

Mary Turner ,To punish her, at Folsom's Bridge the mob tied Mary Turner by her ankles, hung her upside down from a tree, poured gasoline on her and burned off her clothes. One member of the mob then cut her stomach open and her unborn child dropped to the ground where it was reportedly stomped on and crushed by a member of the mob. 4. Rumor played an extremely important role in causing many riots. Rumors of some criminal activity by Blacks against whites perpetrated the actions of white mobs.

5. The police force, more than any other institution, was invariably involved as a precipitating cause or perpetuating factor in the riots. In almost every one of the riots, the police sided with the attackers, either by actually participating in or by failing to quell the attack.

6. In almost every instance, the fighting occurred within the Black community.

The United States has a brutal history of domestic violence. It is an ugly episode in our national history that has long been neglected. Of the several varieties of American violence, one type stands out as one of the most inhuman chapters in the history of the world—the violence committed against Negro citizens in America by white people.

These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness.Now we've got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don’t move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there’ll be no way of stopping them, we’ll lose the filibuster and there’ll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It’ll be Reconstruction all over again.

In Senate cloakrooms and staff meetings, Johnson was practically a connoisseur of the word. According to Johnson biographer Robert Caro, Johnson would calibrate his pronunciations by region, using “nigra” with some southern legislators and “negra” with others. Discussing civil rights legislation with men like Mississippi Democrat James Eastland, who committed most of his life to defending white supremacy, he’d simply call it “the nigger bill.”

I keep trying to imagine how frightened Kathryn Johnston, 92, must have been that night police stormed her Elm Street home. Here’s what we know about the last minutes of her life.

Sometime around 7 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2006, three Atlanta police officers, dressed in plainclothes and wearing bulletproof vests, forced Johnston’s front door open.

Johnson fired on the officers but missed. They returned 39 shots, hitting her five or six times. Prosecutors would later say that one of them, Officer Jason R. Smith, handcuffed the elderly woman as she was dying.

We would later learn the trio lied that an informant had purchased drugs at Johnston’s home, lied about finding marijuana on the premises, lied about the whole thing.

The game, “Public Assistance“, released by Hammerhead Enterprises in 1980, was allegedly intended as satire of the welfare system.

“Players move around the board in two different tracks: ‘working person’s rut’ and ‘able-bodied welfare recipient’s promenade.’ The goal of the game is to have the most money after a pre-determined number of circuits around the board have been achieved. Throughout the game players are asked if they know good from evil. Individuals can choose the church or slip into a life of crime. Church provides strength and guidance. Crime has consequences, and while lucrative, it also leads to frequent encounters with police and ultimately, prison. If a player has acquired enough money, they can pay for the "Dream Team Attorney". If not, the overworked and often unreliable Public Defender is available.

Cars also make a difference, and a player must choose their ride wisely. Options include the SUV, Used Car, Bucket, or even no car at all. Choosing no car is risky because public transportation is unreliable and one needs a car to get around in Downtown.

Most Middle-Class Whites have no Idea What It Feels Like to be Subjected to Police who are Routinely Suspicious, Rude, Belligerent, and Brutal.

WHITE SUPREMACISTS AND other domestic extremists maintain an active presence in U.S. police departments and other law enforcement agencies. A striking reference to that conclusion, notable for its confidence and the policy prescriptions that accompany it, appears in a classified FBI Counterterrorism Policy Guide from April 2015, obtained by The Intercept. The guide, which details the process by which the FBI enters individuals on a terrorism watchlist, the Known or Suspected Terrorist File, notes that “domestic terrorism investigations focused on militia extremists, white supremacist extremists, and sovereign citizen extremists often have identified active links to law enforcement officers,” and explains in some detail how bureau policies have been crafted to take this infiltration into account.

Although these right-wing extremists have posed a growing threat for years, federal investigators have been reluctant to publicly address that threat or to point out the movement’s longstanding strategy of infiltrating the law enforcement community.

No centralized recruitment process or set of national standards exists for the 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States, many of which have deep historical connections to racist ideologies. As a result, state and local police as well as sheriff’s departments present ample opportunities for white supremacists and other right-wing extremists looking to expand their power base.

In a heavily redacted version of an October 2006 FBI internal intelligence assessment, the agency raised the alarm over white supremacist groups’ “historical” interest in “infiltrating law enforcement communities or recruiting law enforcement personnel.” The effort, the memo noted, “can lead to investigative breaches and can jeopardize the safety of law enforcement sources or personnel.” The memo also states that law enforcement had recently become aware of the term “ghost skins,” used among white supremacists to describe “those who avoid overt displays of their beliefs to blend into society and covertly advance white supremacist causes.” In at least one case, the FBI learned of a skinhead group encouraging ghost skins to seek employment with law enforcement agencies in order to warn crews of any investigations.

IN 2009, SHORTLY after the election of Barack Obama, a Department of Homeland Security intelligence study, written in coordination with the FBI, warned of the “resurgence” of right-wing extremism. “Right-wing extremists have capitalized on the election of the first African-American president, and are focusing their efforts to recruit new members, mobilize existing supporters, and broaden their scope and appeal through propaganda,” the report noted, singling out “disgruntled military veterans” as likely targets of recruitment. “Right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat.”

“Federal law enforcement agencies in general — the FBI, the Marshals, the ATF — are aware that extremists have infiltrated state and local law enforcement agencies and that there are people in law enforcement agencies that may be sympathetic to these groups,” said Daryl Johnson, who was the lead researcher on the DHS report. Johnson, who now runs DT Analytics, a consulting firm that analyzes domestic extremism, says the problem has since gotten “a lot more troublesome.”

Their was a series of scandals involving local police and sheriff’s departments. 1898: Wilmington, North Carolina

While Democrats held power at the state level in North Carolina, a coalition of white Republicans and African Americans controlled politics in Wilmington, in 1898. A group of Democrats sought to remove blacks from the political scene and launched a campaign to do so by accusing black men of sexually assaulting white women. A prominent black newspaper editor, Alex Manly, responded with an editorial suggesting that it was possible that relations between white women and black men were consensual—a taboo subject at the time. About 500 white men attacked and burned Manly's office. Fourteen African Americans were killed in the violence.

1906: Atlanta, Georgia

Racial tension had been building in Atlanta in 1906 and race-baiting in the state's gubernatorial election brought it to a boil. Blacks in Georgia had begun to prosper economically and socially, and the Democratic candidates for governor, Hoke Smith, and Clark Howell, played on whites' fear of a rising black middle class. Anti-black violence broke out in September after two newspapers printed stories about black men assaulting white women. Most of the allegations were false. About 10,000 white men and boys took to the streets, beating black men. Between 25 and 100 blacks were killed and hundreds were injured.

1917: East St. Louis

Several thousand African Americans seeking employment opportunities moved to East St. Louis, historically a white city, from the South during World War. On July 1, a black man was rumored to have killed a white man. The anti-black violence followed, with whites shooting, beating, and lynching African Americans. Arson against African-American homes also occurred. The violence continued for a week. Estimates of deaths range from 40 to 200 African Americans. In addition, some 6,000 blacks fled East St. Louis.

1919: Red Summer

Race riots erupted in 26 U.S. cities during the course of the year, including Washington, DC; Knoxville, Tennessee; Longview, Texas; Phillips County, Arkansas; Omaha, Nebraska; and Chicago. Many of the riots occurred during the summer months, in what is known as the "Red Summer." Racial tension was particularly bad in northern cities as white soldiers returning from World War I found that their jobs had been taken by African Americans who had migrated north during to take advantage of employment opportunities. In addition, black soliders returning from war became embittered by the lack of civil rights extended to them, particularly after they risked their lives fighting for their country. Chicago experienced the most violence. On July 27, 1919, Eugene Willaims, a 17-year-old black man, was swimming with friends in Lake Michigan and entered into a "white only" area of the water. A group of white men threw rocks at Williams. He was hit in the head and drowned. Police refused to arrest the man who threw the rock, and fighting between white and black gangs erupted in Chicago's South Side. The violence escalated, and the state militia was deployed. Fighting continued until Aug. 3, and 15 white people and 23 blacks were killed. About 1,000 black people lost their homes to arson.

The Greenwood section of Tulsa, the wealthiest black community in the country, erupted in violence on May 31 and June 1 after a young white woman accused a black man, Dick Rowland, of grabbing her arm in an elevator. Rowland was arrested and police launched an investigation. Accounts of the assault were exaggerated, and a mob of armed white men gathered outside the Tulsa County Courthouse. The sheriff enlisted officers to protect Rowland, and an armed group of black men went to the courthouse to help protect Rowland. Gunfire was exchanged between the groups, and the violence intensified. Many of the black people retreated to the Greenwood neighborhood. Whites followed, burning and looting the buildings and homes. About 1,250 homes were destroyed. The Oklahoma National Guard was called in, and imprisoned some 6,000 blacks. There are reports that whites fired on Greenwood from planes. Reports of fatalities vary, but the state of Oklahoma reports that 26 blacks and 10 whites died in the violence. A report released in 2000 by the Tulsa Race Riot Commission said about 300 people died.

1943: Detroit

Detroit, a segregated city, was a hotbed of racial tension. On a steamy evening in late June, a fistfight broke out between a black and white young men at an amusement park called Belle Isle. The fighting quickly grew in scope and intensity. The violence escalated when rumors about violence against white and black women circulated, and both whites and blacks engaged in retaliatory attacks. Homes and businesses were burned and looted and people were beaten and shot. The fighting raged for three days, and 6,000 U.S. Army troops were brought in. Twenty-five black people and nine whites were killed. About 700 were injured.

The historical experience of African Americans in our country has been shaped by the institution of slavery, dehumanization of blacks, segregation, pursuit of civil rights, and racism in contemporary American society. Disparities in health care provide compelling evidence that issues of race or skin color for the descendants of slaves and other ethnic minorities persist in the 21st century.

Inequalities about race are best reflected in slave narratives, historical records, and biographies which describe slaves as property rather than persons. Historians frequently reported the characterizations of black slaves as subhuman species with insatiable sexual appetites who lacked intelligence, feelings, and character (D’Emilio & Freedman, 1988). In comparing the plight of women and slaves in colonial America, historian Howard Zinn (1999) pointed out, "the biological uniqueness of women, like skin color and facial characteristics for Negroes, became a basis for treating them as inferiors" (p. 102). Additionally, the passage of harsh laws and early rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court helped to perpetuate the oppression of blacks and reinforce beliefs about black inferiority.

Unlike other immigrants or refugees who traveled to this country on a volunteer basis in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, black Americans came to America, chained together as human cargo and crossed the dreaded "middle passage" during the Atlantic Slave Trade Millions of slaves died of disease, suicide, or murder and were fed to the sharks following the slave ships.

Third, a White person (the savior) enters the milieu and through their sacrifices, as a teacher, mentor, lawyer, military hero, aspiring writer, or wannabe Native American warrior, is able to physically save—or at least morally redeem—the person or community of folks of color, by the film's end. Examples of this genre include films like Glory (1989), Dangerous Minds (1996), Amistad (1997), Finding Forrester (2000), The Last Samurai (2003), Half Nelson (2006), Freedom Writers (2007), Gran Torino (2008), Avatar (2009), The Blind Side (2009), The Help (2011), and the list goes on.

At the cinema, the white savior narrative occupies a psychological niche for most white people, as an expression of their latent desire for interracial goodwill and reconciliation. By presenting stories of racial redemption, involving black people and white people professing to reach across racial barriers, Hollywood is catering to a mostly white audience who believe themselves unfairly victimized by non-white ethnic groups, because they are culturally exhausted with the unfinished national discourse about race and ethnicity in the society of the United States. Hence, films featuring the narrative trope of the white savior have notably similar storylines, which present an ostensibly nobler approach to race relations, but offer psychological refuge and escapism for white Americans seeking to avoid substantive conversations about race, racism, and racial identity. In this way, the narrative trope of the white savior is an important cultural artifact, a device to realize the desire to repair the social and cultural damage wrought by the myths of white supremacy and paternalism, regardless of the inherently racist overtones of the white-savior narrative trope.

Twenty year-old Mary Turner (m.n. Hattie Graham), 8 months pregnant at the time and whose husband had been killed in this "lynching rampage" on Sunday, May 19th, publicly objected to her husband's murder. She also had the audacity to threaten to swear out warrants for those responsible. Those "unwise remarks," as the area papers put it, enraged locals. Consequently, Mary Turner fled for her life only to be caught and taken to a place called Folsom's Bridge on the Brooks and Lowndes Counties' shared border. To punish her, at Folsom's Bridge the mob tied Mary Turner by her ankles, hung her upside down from a tree, poured gasoline on her and burned off her clothes. One member of the mob then cut her stomach open and her unborn child dropped to the ground where it was reportedly stomped on and crushed by a member of the mob. Her body was then riddled with gunfire from the mob.

School suspension rates are also higher for black girls than for white girls, according to Black Girls Matter: Pushed Out, Overpoliced and Underprotected, a joint study by the African American Policy Forum and the Center for Interdisciplinary and Social Policy Studies.
